Frequently Asked Questions
Can I come back if I want to?
Yes. We encourage you to come talk to us whenever you want. All our staff are extremely knowledgeable, professional, and great at what they do. One session can help, multiple sessions have the power to transform.
Do I have to come back?
No. No long-term commitments or pressure to come back.
What kind of training do coaches at Speakeasy have?
All Speakeasy coaches are national board-certified, which means they know their stuff, have comprehensive training, and abide by the highest quality and ethical standards. If you want to learn more about the national board exam each coach must pass click here. There are many prestigious programs for Health Coaching established around the country.
Can I use my insurance? What about FSA or HSA money?
Unfortunately we do not take insurance at this time (join our newsletter to be notified if this changes). We want to make this service as affordable as possible, that’s why we offer a sliding scale fee. If you can afford to give more, please do, your generosity is passed on to others. Check with your HSA or FSA plan administrator to find out if Speakeasy is covered.
Can couples make an appointment?
Not yet, but soon! We are rapidly working to accommodate couples. Join our newsletter to be notified when this happens.
Can someone under 18 make an appointment?
Sadly, it’s required in the state of MN to have parent authorization in order to receive this service. We’re bummed about this because we know some people under the age of 18 might not want to get parental permission before they come see us. If this changes we will let you know. Subscribe to our email list here for updates.
Can I use this if I already have a therapist?
Absolutely! Speakeasy and therapy go together like peanut butter and jelly. It’s actually a wonderful marriage of skill-sets.
Is this a replacement for therapy?
No. We encourage people who want or need therapy to continue to use those services. We do not assess, diagnose, or treat people for mental illness. While many people with a moderate mental illness can benefit from our service, we specialize in helping people deal with moderate stress and anxiety.
If I’m feeling suicidal or like I might hurt others should I come to Speakeasy?
No. Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
Is it better to book an appointment or drop in?
Whatever works best for you, works best for us. Some people like having a date and time set on their schedules, while some need that emotional backup unexpectedly and as-needed. There’s always someone open available to chat with you in-person Monday - Friday 10am - 7pm.
What happens if I miss my appointment?
We get it. Sometimes life throws unexpected things your way (that’s why we exist, after all!) and you might have to miss an appointment. Please let us know about this change as soon as you can at firstname.lastname@example.org. If appointments are canceled 24 hrs in advance of your booking there’s no charge. If appointments are canceled or missed after that window you will be billed at half-price.
